CONTROL CONDITIONS

Specify the usable temperature-humidity envelope, not two isolated maximum values.

Humidity capability changes with dry-bulb temperature, dew point, refrigeration capacity and water system design. Published limits must therefore be reviewed against the exact operating point and test load.

The chamber exposes specimens to controlled temperature and humidity. It does not by itself measure corrosion, insulation resistance, adhesion, dimensional change or service life; those conclusions require the prescribed inspection or measurement before, during or after exposure.

TEST ROUTE BOUNDARIES

Use a temperature humidity chamber when controlled climate is the test stress.

Related equipment may share temperature or moisture terminology but creates a different stress mechanism. Confirm the method before substituting one chamber type for another.

Temperature-only chamber

Choose it when humidity control is not required. It may offer a different low-temperature range, rate or cost.

Thermal shock chamber

Uses rapid transfer or separate zones to create abrupt temperature exposure; it is not the same as programmed change in one workspace.

HAST or PCT

Uses pressurized moisture above atmospheric pressure. Ordinary 85/85 damp heat does not require a pressure vessel.

Stability chamber

Pharmaceutical stability work may require different ranges, mapping, monitoring, documentation and regulatory controls.

Configure the chamber for the exact method edition, specimen and acceptance plan.

A chamber can provide conditions used by a method; that does not automatically certify the complete test. Final conformity depends on the selected configuration, verified operating point, specimen preparation, loading, sensors, cycle, tolerances and evaluation.

Temperature humidity test chamber FAQ

What is the difference between a temperature humidity chamber and a climatic chamber?

In many procurement contexts the terms overlap. Confirm that the proposed climatic chamber independently controls the temperature and relative-humidity conditions required by your method.

Why can the chamber not provide every humidity value at every temperature?

Relative humidity depends on dry-bulb temperature and water-vapour content. Refrigeration, humidification, dehumidification and dew-point limits create a usable operating envelope; review the required points before ordering.

How should chamber volume be selected?

Use the specimen envelope, quantity, fixtures, airflow clearance, mass and heat load. Nominal litres alone do not confirm usable loading or recovery performance.

Does the published cooling rate apply to my specimens?

Not automatically. Rates are often stated for an empty chamber and under defined ambient conditions. Ask for the rate definition and an engineering review of your load.

Can the chamber perform an 85°C / 85% RH test?

The required operating point must fall inside the verified temperature-humidity envelope. Also define duration, specimen power, ramp, data and acceptance requirements.

When should I select a walk-in chamber?

Select a walk-in configuration when assemblies, racks, loading quantity or access requirements exceed a cabinet chamber. Site construction, floor loading, heat load and utilities then require project review.

Can powered specimens be tested?

Yes when the chamber, ports, wiring, fixtures, load control and safety system are configured for the application. Provide voltage, current, heat dissipation and monitoring details.

What water should be prepared for humidity operation?

Water-quality requirements depend on the humidification system and manufacturer specification. Confirm conductivity or resistivity, supply pressure, tank arrangement, drainage and maintenance before installation.
