A xenon arc weathering test chamber uses filtered full-spectrum xenon light with controlled temperature and, where required, humidity or water spray. Selection begins with the applicable method and the surface that must receive exposure—not lamp power alone.

XENON ARC OR FLUORESCENT UV?

Choose the light source from the spectral requirement and failure mechanism.

Both technologies accelerate weathering, but they are not interchangeable. Xenon arc uses filtered full-spectrum light; fluorescent UV concentrates on selected ultraviolet regions with condensation or spray cycles. Follow the governing method or a validated internal procedure.

Choose xenon arc when

The work requires filtered full-spectrum sunlight, daylight-through-glass simulation, lightfastness, color response or a xenon-specific method.

Choose fluorescent UV when

What is the difference between air-cooled and water-cooled xenon lamps?

The cooling system affects chamber architecture, utilities, maintenance and available lamp configurations, but it does not alone determine test suitability. Compare the complete model against the required method, specimen capacity and site conditions.

Which optical filter should I select?

Use the filter system required by the method and intended exposure, such as direct daylight or daylight through window glass. Confirm the exact supplied filter designation before ordering.

Can a xenon chamber test three-dimensional parts?

Some tray or large-chamber configurations can accept 3D parts, but irradiated faces, shadowing, mounting, rotation and temperature control must be reviewed from drawings and photographs.

Does the chamber measure color, gloss or mechanical degradation?

No. The chamber controls exposure. Use a colorimeter, gloss meter, mechanical tester or the evaluation method named by the material standard before and after exposure.

Can xenon test hours be converted directly into outdoor years?

No universal conversion is valid. Use controlled comparative exposure and material-specific correlation with outdoor or service data.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Send the standard and edition, specimen material/dimensions/quantity, exposed surface, filter and irradiance requirement, temperature/humidity/spray cycle, destination power, utilities, data and acceptance documents.
